Recently I have been working on a NSX-V to NSX-T migration project for a customer. VMware provide a great tool to assist with the migration when using VMware vCloud Director – the latest released version is 1.4.0.
Using the previous version of the tool (1.3.3), I used breakpoints in the script – topology, bridging, services and movevApp. Once the migration has completed and tested, a cleanup task is run to remove the old NSX-V back VDC. This all removed the temporary networking created to bridge the environments.
In 1.4.0, if you use breakpoints, the cleanup does not remove the temporary networking consuming an ETN node per network. After speaking to VMware, this is a bug which will be fixed in the next version (1.4.1).
So, until 1.4.1 is released, the tool will be run without breakpoints.
